Fratelli's 2025 Design Predictions

The world of home design is embracing bold innovation and timeless warmth. From rich, earthy tones to tactile elements that celebrate individuality, the trends this year promise to transform living spaces into personal sanctuaries that balance function, style, and comfort. And we're here for it.

Here are the key design trends that Team Fratelli is excited to see shaping homes in 2025.

1. The Colour of the Year: Mocha Mousse

Pantone has declared Mocha Mousse, a deep and sophisticated shade of brown, as the Colour of the Year. This rich hue sets the tone for 2025, reflecting a growing appreciation for earthy, grounded palettes. Brown is making a strong comeback as a versatile, welcoming colour that pairs beautifully with both neutrals and bolder shades.

2. Colour drenching

Homeowners are becoming more adventurous with colour, particularly in smaller home designs where vibrant shades can make a big impact. Cherry red, once considered a fleeting TikTok trend, continues to dominate design forecasts, adding energy and personality to interiors. Colour drenching, where a single hue is layered in varying tones and textures, is also evolving, with designers applying this technique boldly across entire rooms.

3. The "new" neutral Palettes

Neutral tones are stepping beyond whites and beiges to include complex shades like warm taupe and stony-grey. Layering and mixing these nuanced neutrals creates depth and sophistication, offering a modern yet timeless aesthetic. This approach moves away from stark minimalism, instead emphasising a rich, tactile experience that feels calm and inviting.

4. Outdoor spaces as private escapes

Outdoor areas are taking centre stage in home design. More than ever, homeowners are prioritising outdoor entertaining and relaxation spaces that feel like private retreats. We are seeing more and more of our clients placing equal importance on their outdoor entertaining areas as on their kitchens. While kitchens have traditionally been the centrepiece of decision-making during the design stage, outdoor spaces are now being treated with the same level of care and significance From landscaped gardens to cosy alfresco dining setups, these areas are becoming extensions of the home’s living space.

5. Intentional clutter

Gone are the days of pristine, minimalist interiors. Intentional clutter—curated collections of quirky objects or favourite books—is adding warmth and personality to spaces. Thoughtfully styled shelves with consistent accent colours bring cohesion to this otherwise carefree aesthetic, proving that a lived-in look can be just as stylish as it is personal.

6. Layers of texture

Mixing and matching tactile and visual elements is a trend that’s as dynamic as it is comforting. Layering rugs, textiles, and natural materials like wood and stone brings depth and balance to interiors. This approach caters to both aesthetic desires and the need for a cosy, well-being-focused environment.

7. Wood: A timeless material

Wood remains a cornerstone of home design, offering warmth, texture, and versatility. Whether used in floors, cabinetry, accent walls, or furniture, wood creates inviting spaces that feel grounded and harmonious. Its ability to blend seamlessly with modern and traditional styles ensures it’s here to stay.

8. Café-inspired living

The cafécore trend, which gained popularity in 2024, continues to evolve. Banquette seating—intimate, built-in dining nooks reminiscent of cosy café corners—is becoming a popular feature in homes. Paired with Shaker-style cabinetry, provincial tapware, and natural stone countertops, this style embodies a homely charm that’s perfect for both relaxed mornings and lively dinners.

9. Statement stone

Marble, quartzite, and travertine are being reimagined with bold veining and striking patterns. These statement stones are no longer just functional surfaces but are becoming the focal point of kitchens and bathrooms, turning countertops, splashbacks, and walls into works of art.

10. Smart tapware

Technology and wellness are converging in the bathroom. Smart tapware with features like voice activation, app-controlled temperature adjustments, and scent-infused showers is redefining how we experience these spaces. Advanced filtration systems that purify air and water further enhance the sense of rejuvenation and well-being.
